How frequently have you gone to sleep in the evening, promising yourself that you’ll go to the gym in the morning or begin eating healthier foods, but you later change your mind as soon as you get up because you don’t feel like going on that diet or going to the gym?

This can happen to any of us, but it doesn’t mean you should give up on the opportunity altogether when it comes to staying healthy and eating healthy. What people need to realize is that staying active and eating well are important for lasting health. The more you know about how your body reacts to your lifestyle choices, the better you can alter an exercising and healthy eating plan that is right for you.

When you eat well, exercise at the right intensity, and raise your level of physical activity, you are notifying your body that you want to burn a huge amount of fuel. Which then transforms into burning fat more productively for energy. In other words, exercise plus proper eating habits equals a faster metabolism which allows you to use less effort while doing more physical work and gives you more energy throughout the day.

Exercising is important, so make a commitment to exercise at least four times a week, so that you can reach your weight loss goals. However, you can’t stop there, you must also change your diet or eating habits. Counting calories is not the answer because that’s just way to time consuming. Instead, add in more healthy foods, have smaller portions, and eat what you enjoy. Here are a few tips I recommend:

Smaller meals and snacks throughout the day

Try eating three or four meals and a snack between each meal.

Balance all your meals

Incorporate fist-sized portions of complex carbohydrates such as wild rice, multi grain cereals, whole wheat bread, etc., fist-sized portions of fruits and vegetables, palm-sized proteins when eating dairy products and lean meats.

Drink plenty of water

Drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses (64 oz) of water throughout the day for proper hydration.

Fat intake – limit it

Fat should be limited to only what is necessary for flavor.

And last but not lease – Enjoy your food!

Don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love. Just cut back and incorporate more healthy foods. Let’s face it, if you are always eating foods you hate, one day you’ll just crack and binge on foods that aren’t good for you. After that you won’t be feeling good at all. So just limit the junk food.

Follow those simple steps and you’re well on your way to a healthier you! It’s up to you now, take this information and put it into practice.
