There is a lot of information on fitness today that it is hard to discern which program is effective enough to follow. I have learned to mix and match regarding my fitness approach and have found a resource with some valuable information called The Truth About Six Pack Abs in which detailed information is given on the importance of food and how it relates to the chemistry of the body. List of foods that we should be eating and the reasons why we should be eating them are detailed in this book. You are also made aware of some foods to avoid because they cause the body to store fat.
The information in The Truth About Abs is insightful and allows readers to get a grasp of knowledge in easy to understand language without getting into a lot of the chemical, physical, and biological issues. I have done a lot of research myself on issues such as food allergies, processed foods, etc. and have come to realize that I can not leave it up to others to bring the information to me in a book, magazine or any other resource but must go out and seek it for myself.
I have been following the plan outlined in The Truth about Abs for more than a week now and have definitely noticed an increase in strength to the abdominal area. Mike Geary, the author of the book, says it is more important to do full body workout to achieve six pack abs instead of just abs-specific workouts. Although I have not tried the full body workouts and only have done the abs-specific ones, I do plan to incorporate them in my workout routines. The very first time I started with the abs exercises I felt uncoordinated and weak. Just doing leg thrusts on a decline bench or mat was a challenge to me. I especially like the front squat and feel that it is a very effective exercise. The exercises I started doing were just with my own body weight and still noticed a big difference. Later on, I added a twelve-pound medicine ball and changed that up with a forty-five pound bar. I really enjoyed doing something called “break-dancers” which is a very fun exercise and it gets your heart pumping. In the book Mike Geary, also talks about overfeeding day once per week, which is suppose to serve as tricking the body so it does not think it is starving and go into preservation mode.
I can honestly say that I am happy with the outcome I am noticing from the things I have incorporated in my life from the information in The Truth About Six Pack Abs. I definitely feel stronger and leaner in my core area and I am looking forward to advancing to the full body workouts. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants information on how to really bring out his or her six-pack.
