When you are sick you see a doctor. When April 15 approaches you see an accountant. When it comes to fat loss, health, fitness see a Fitness Professional. A Fitness Professional is more than just a personal trainer. They offer guidance in the gym and outside as well. This article is intended to give you the information you need to find a Fitness Professional that will help you reach your goals.

A true Fitness Professional “Walks the Talk.” How so? They eat healthy meals throughout the day, a cup of coffee and some protein bars do not constitute healthy. Meals are planned ahead and time is spent cooking them. A few hours of exercise is part of their weekly routine, week in and week out. No excuses are made for not training.

There is an ability to relate. In other words they are not body beautiful. Their level of health and fitness was earned. They weren’t blessed with low body fat, a super fast metabolism, the ability to run a 10K, or the strength to lift a mountain. A few times per week they exercise. Fitness Professionals set health and fitness goals for themselves, mark their progress, and achieve them. The goal does not matter, what does is that they set a goal and work towards it. This gives the Fitness Professional first hand perspective to draw from and relate to the client and their goals.

The Fitness Professional realizes that setting goals and holding oneself accountable is difficult. Whether it is getting up early, or staying up late they find ways to stay on track. Realizing life is always through curves this gives them perspective to show you the client how to hit the curve ball out of the park.

All to often folks masquerade as personal trainers. Many have been gifted with a healthy appearing and toned body. They are “BODY BEAUTIFUL.” Yet their lifestyle is anything but healthy. They do not “Walk the Talk.” Eating good food every few hours is unheard of. Setting concrete goals and achieving them is unheard of. No this does not mean they have to body build, run marathons, or powerlfit…it does mean they should know what it is like to set and achieve health and fitness goals. Individuals like this will count your reps while staring lackadaisically into the mirror or space, on your time.

If you have never seen your trainer exercise and see them live off bars and shakes in the pro shop you their value should be questioned.

How can an individual that does not eat right, rarely trains, and doesn’t set goals for personal achievement help you? The reality is they can’t. How can they take someone somewhere they have never personally been? They can’t!
