I hear this in forums, in my gym, all over the place. It’s maybe the biggest question I get and I get it at least everyday!
“What is the best cardio exercise to do to lose weight?”
Well today I am going to cover my 3 favorite cardio exercises for losing weight and keeping it off!
Cardio Exercise #1
– Interval Training
This is where you will alternate between very light and very intense cardio. This allows you to burn fat pretty fast, increase your ability to perform cardio longer and help you burn more fat at rest! Here is an example of interval training that you can do:
– Start by walking for 2 minutes – Then start jogging/running for 90 seconds – Then back to your 2 minute walk
Do that interval for 30 minutes
What this is going to do is allow you to tap into fat for energy rather than your muscles. This is one of my favorite exercises to do when I am trying to get really lean or I have a client that needs to lose weight fairly fast.
Do this routine maybe 3-4 times a week!
Cardio Exercise #2
The next one is something I have to do all the time because I hate cardio! So, if you just simply cannot stand doing cardio try this for some good and noticeable weight loss:
– Start by doing 5 minutes on the treadmill or jogging – The do 5 minutes on the row machine or jump rope – Then do 5 minutes on the bike
Just repeat that 2 times and you will do 30 minutes of cardio!
You may think this is crazy, but I does work, it keeps you busy, it burns fat, and most importantly it will help you not get so bored!!!!
Cardio Exercise #3
The last cardio program is a bit more intense and you should not do this if you are just starting out. But, if you have a good base under you and are comfortable with moving a ton this will really help you out a lot I think!
You are going to do a series of exercises to create your cardio plan here they are:
– lunges – squats – jump rope – sprint
Here is how you put this together:
Start by doing 15 lunges on each leg, then without rest, do 15 squats with no weight. After that go right into jumping rope for 5 minutes, take a 45 second break and then perform 5 sprints approx. 40 yards.
Like I said I know this sounds crazy, but if you are an athlete, or trying to find something that is going to bust your butt, I promise this will deliver all the pain you can handle!
The Worlds Best Cardio Exercise
The best cardio you can do to lose weight, is the cardio you do on a consistent basis. There is no exercise that will make you lose 30 pounds instantly, but steady, persistent cardio will help you lose weight and get in the best shape of your life.
Create a good plan, stick with it, and I promise you will have the body you deserve!
