Getting Started With Aerobics

Ever tried exercising wearing a three-piece suit. Not only will you look like a joker, you will also find exercising a very tiring and unpleasant experience. Therefore, dressing appropriately before you start exercising is paramount. Exercising in summers and winters require different clothes.

In summer, wear lightweight, loose-fitting, absorbent and light-colored clothing. Try to exercise during the relatively cooler part of the day. However, if you prefer working out in the afternoons, then do it indoors. These precautions will save you from heat disorders such as heat cramps or heat stroke. In winter, dress in layers. Wear a lower layer of absorbent material and an outer layer of porous nylon or a similar material. Don’t wear non-porous materials like rubberized or plastic suits that have a tendency to trap excess heat and perspiration. While preparing for an aerobics programme, buy clothes that are moderately priced, comfortable, washable and suitable for aerobics. Avoid wearing too tight or ill-fitting clothes as these can rub or cut near the body joints besides bursting at the seams.

If you want to put your best foot forward when you exercise, you need to wear proper footwear. Although good quality shoes are a little more expensive than others, they provide you with specific features required in an aerobics programme. Wearing a good shoe ensures that you exercise in comfort and minimize your chances of foot, ankle and knee strain and injuries. Shoes should always be bought in the evening when your feet are at their largest. Jump up and down in the shoes and jog in the place to ensure that they fit well and are comfortable. Buy shoes, which are well-cushioned with at least 1.5 cm (3/4 inches) cushion under the heel and 1 cm (1/2 inch) under the sole.

Once you get your clothes and shoes organized, there’s no stopping you. Get ready to bounce.
