You may be wondering what I mean by raw living foods. Well, raw living foods are basically vegetables, nuts, salads, and fruits. These live whole foods contain minerals, vitamins, protein, and live enzymes that aid in digestion. When these foods are cooked however, it has been said that almost 50% of the protein, vitamins, and minerals are killed and that most of the live enzymes are destroyed as well.
So what does this all mean to our bodies? It means that when food is cooked it actually makes it harder to digest and we aren’t getting the same amount of nutrients as we could when eating foods raw. It has been said that the body treats cooked or heated foods as an enemy or foreign invader!
The negatives of eating cooked foods far outweigh the positives. Even if cooking foods only destroyed the enzymes, eating live foods would still be better for you. Without enzymes (which have been said to be the catalysts of every chemical reaction in our bodies) energy production cannot happen, there can be no cellular division, the immune system cannot function properly, nor can the brain. So enzymes are pretty important wouldn’t you guess? Which is why live whole foods are better for you.
Let’s look at a few of the benefits of eating raw living foods over cooked foods:
1. Eating raw live whole foods provide an abundance of trace elements, fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and water.2. They require less work for the digestive system since they are quickly and easily absorbed by the body. 3. They have more flavor than cooked foods, so no need for too many spices. Which means preparation time is faster so less time in the kitchen.4. Raw foods usually don’t have preservatives or added color, and are an excellent source of hydration for the body due to their high water content. 5. Raw foods are better quality. You feel more satisfied and have more energy after a smaller meal of raw living foods because of the excellent balance of nutrients they have that your body needs. So you actually end up eating less while still feeling satisfied.
It has been said that those on the raw living food diet have seen considerable changes in their health. Just take a look a few of these positives that may come from eating a diet rich in colors and raw living foods:
1. Better rest and better sleep in less time2. Less subject to nervous tensions and stresses3. Can potentially help prevent many chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease4. Clearer thinking, sharper, and more alert5. Virtually sickness-free6. Weight loss
It seems obvious to me that by eating a diet rich in raw living foods with less cooked foods, would promote better overall health for everyone. So what are we waiting for? Let’s clear out our pantries and refrigerators and start afresh!
