Can you imagine how many times we fall for advertising claims both in print and in the media. Jenny Craig is a good example. Somehow we are lead to believe that she has some kind of magic can help you lose weight fast. Of course this is not true.

We all know the formula for losing weight. Quite simply just burn more calories than you take in. That is all that this programs we pay handsomely for do. They tell you to diet and exercise. That is no secret. Then they tell you to buy their low calorie foods at some exorbiant price. You can easily find them in food isles in your grocery store.

So if we can easily do what Jenny Craig does, what it the problem? It is summed up in one word – discipline!

Unfortunately most of us do not have the discipline to do what they tell us to do for a nice chunk of dough. They have created a great business by taking portions of food and telling us to eat them. Then they tell us to exercise so we join a gym at additional cost and yes we lose weight .i.e. we burn more calories than we eat.

In all fairness Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and others do a good job of helping you lose weight. But it is something we can do ourselves at a fraction of the cost. We pay them to count calories for us and figure out what we should eat every day. What that tells me is that many of us have to depend on Jenny Craig because we cannot do it on our own. Actually it does not take that much time or effort, just go to the grocery store and buy in the low calorie foods . For exercise just do a walk and jog program. This can even be fun if you have friends join you. Plus if you make a commitment with a friend or friends you will stay with it.

I guess the real important thing here is lose weight anyway you can to so you can have a healthy lifestyle, feel good about yourself and look good. You really do not need expensive programs like Jenny Craig. . My point is if you can do it on your own and you can save money.
